2nd trip on the transect was a park between residential buildings close to the Historic Dockyard which we like to refer to as the Play Park.

The walk to the park was narrowed by road work. The floor was bouncy and comfortable to walk on and the weather was nice and sunny for Portsmouth.
As it was a school day, there wasn't any activity at the park.

The park was relatively small and equipped with industrial children play equipments and a basketball hoop.

Path between park and street
Outside the park is where we found most interest. The planter on the right shown in the figure above is approximately 50 cm high. It affords multiple functions; a planter, an unusual seating, and the sense of safety in its placement separating the street from the park. In doing so, this simple urban addition provided a safer park for parents and guardians watching their children in the off case they might leave the park unattended.
